The Place: Charlestown Community Centre

The Place: Charlestown Community Centre is a not-for-profit community facility that welcomes and supports a diverse community to meet, connect, belong and grow.

The Place offers a broad range of programs and activities for people of all ages and welcomes suggestions for new activities. Some of the regular programs and activities include: Charlestown Square Tuesday Club, Be Connected Digital Literacy Training, Made at The Place and Great Mates Youth Programs, Bluegum Qigong, exercise, yoga and dance classes plus a range of social and support groups. The Place also offers information and referral support, bus information, a free book exchange, free art display, printing and photocopying services and a Kindness Cupboard which provides non-perishable food and hygiene items for anyone in need.

A variety of rooms and facilities are available for hire at The Place, including two large halls, carpeted rooms, and a commercial kitchen. These facilities are perfect for community, business, and private functions, special events, birthday parties, meetings, workshops, training, and conferences. Rooms feature modern equipment with data projectors and audio-visual equipment. Interactive MAXHUB screens are also available to use and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the Centre.
The Place is located at the southern end of Charlestown Square on the Corner of Frederick & Pearson Streets. Access to the Centre is from outside Charlestown Square via the front door on Frederick Street (which faces toward the Charlestown Oval).
 
The Place staff are available Monday to Friday from 8.30am - 5pm for enquiries and bookings. Venue hire is available after hours and on weekends, however all bookings must be pre-arranged with The Place staff during reception hours.
